Jeremiah 51:38-40

New Catholic Bible

³⁸ Like lions they roar together
    and growl like lion cubs.
³⁹ But when they are afflicted with fever,
    I will set a drink before them
and cause them to become drunk
    so that they will sink into an unending sleep,
    never to awaken again, says the Lord.
⁴⁰ I will bring them down like lambs to the slaughter,
    like rams and goats.
